About Me

About Me

My name is Allison Sidor and I am originally from Long Island, New York. I was living in Venezuela and teaching at an international school, but now I am in Colombia (also teaching at an international school). I graduated in 2012 from Bucknell University and am currently getting my masters degree (to be completed summer 2014) from Canisius College. I am certified in elementary education and ESL and will be certified as a literacy specialist when my masters degree is completed.

I am currently getting ready for my move to Colombia to teach second grade at Liceo Ingles in Pereira. Before this I was teaching Kindergarten at the Anzoategui International School in Anaco, Venezuela. I love traveling and teaching and working internationally has been the most ideal way to combine these two passions.

Most of what I write about is in regard to my daily life so that family and friends can stay up to date on what I am doing here, but I hope to also grow to help others experience parts of the world that they might not get to, and to help anyone who wants to get involved in international teaching.

I get to travel around the country and internationally a fair bit and really enjoy it. Since I moved to Venezuela I've gone to Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada, and Panama internationally and all over Venezuela such as to Margarita Island, Caracas, Angel Falls, and various other places. Hopefully I will be continuing this traveling trend as I move on to Colombia.

At some point during this year or next I would like to have a portion of this blog really focus on the academics of what I am doing in my classroom and materials that I have made, but this is currently a work in progress as I try and find the time to plan, teach, take courses for my masters, travel, and blog.

Hope you all enjoy!
